The Innova is arguably the most desirable MPV in the market at the moment. It manages to outsell smaller MPVs like the Carens and many SUVs. And it isn’t necessarily cheap either. However, over the coming months, competition is set to increase, which could dent its sales. Here are the 3 upcoming Innova rivals to look out for. Attention Readers! Upcoming Toyota Innova Rivals – Maruti YMC
Maruti already has a direct Innova rival in its range – the Invicto, but it never really caught on with the public. So now, Maruti is working on another 7-seater MPV, and this time around, it will be an electric. The YMC (codename) will be based on the e-Heartect platform, which is also used in the Maruti e Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella. This would mean the YMC would share most components with the e Vitara.
We expect the YMC to be offered with 2 powertrains – a 49kWh and a 61kWh. On the feature front, it could get Level-2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, ventilated front seats, 7 airbags, and much more.
Expected Pricing –
Rs 20-30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)
Expected Launch –
Early 2027

MG Darion
The majority of the Innova’s sales are thanks to the hybrid powertrain. MG realises the potential in the hybrid MPV segment and is expected to bring the Wuling Darion to India. It will launch with two powertrains: a PHEV and an EV.
We could see the Darion powered by a 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid engine, which can provide an effective range of around 1,000 km. MG usually loads up its models with features, and the same is expected with the Darion. The Darion is expected to be offered with amenities such as a 12.8-inch infotainment screen, 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, level-2 ADAS, and more.
Expected Pricing –
Rs 35 lakh – Rs 40 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)
Expected Launch –
Mid-2027

Upcoming Toyota Innova – Tata 7-Seater MPV
During the Sierra’s launch event, Tata teased us with a 7-seater based on the new ARGOS platform. Since Tata already has a 7-seater SUV in its lineup, all things point to an imminent Innova rival. It will share most of the components and the design language with the Tata Sierra. This means it could be offered with 3 engine choices: 1.5-litre NA petrol, 1.5-litre diesel, and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol. It will also be offered with best-in-class features such as level-2+ ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, and a triple-screen layout.
Expected Pricing –
Rs 20 lakh – Rs 30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)
Expected Launch –
Mid-2027
