Tata has been doing wonders with its new cars and model refreshes in the past year or so – the Harrier.ev, the Punch facelift, the Tiago facelift, and a few more cars. Tata Sierra EV Launching Soon
The OG Sierra was India’s first indigenously designed and manufactured SUV, marking a big milestone in Tata’s portfolio. Since then, Tata has come quite far in terms of quality, safety, and features in its cars. And now, the new Sierra is an interesting and significant homage to the original. However, the new Sierra misses out on one thing that the OG Sierra got 4X4. But not for too long. As Tata has now confirmed that the Sierra EV will get a QWD(Quad-wheel-drive) version, basically AWD, which surely will be an interesting thing to see. Much like the Harrier.ev, the Sierra EV will come equipped with two electric motors, one on each axle, and work in conjunction to offer an impressive off-roading experience.
In the opinion of many experts, an electric vehicle with AWD is a better off-road vehicle than an ICE 4X4 vehicle, as the torque is available from 0 rpm, allowing for immense control in rocky and sticky trails. So, we believe that the Sierra EV will be quite fun off-road as well as on the streets. So, what exactly do we expect to see in the new Sierra EV? Let’s discuss.

These features are meant to help you with a comfortable cabin experience and peace of mind. We have also heard that Sierra EV will be bringing in lots of Industry 1st features in India which have not been seen in any category of cars. Tata will likely offer features that will make it easier to thrash the Sierra in tough terrains. Expected features include:
540-degree camera
Multi-terrain modes
Quad Wheel Drive
Crawl Mode
Off-road assist
What is also important for off-road, as well as driving on the road, is the performance. While Tata has not yet revealed any details, we expect to see a 55kWh battery pack and a 65kWh battery pack option, a larger 75kWh battery pack could also be offered. The larger battery pack will likely get a dual-motor setup and QWD, allowing for a fun off-road experience. The Harrier.ev is the most powerful Indian SUV, and we believe that Tata will offer astounding performance in the Sierra EV as well. We can expect to see a real-world range of around 450- 500 km from the larger battery pack option.

With QWD, the Tata Sierra EV would be the first EV in its segment to offer AWD making it standout from the likes of Mahindra BE6, Hyundai Creta electric & Maruti e Vitara. This will be quite an exciting launch for both Tata and off-road enthusiasts who want something powerful, feature-rich and capable. So, are you excited for the launch of the Sierra EV?
