New-Gen Maruti Brezza – What’s New?
Source
Our dealer sources have already claimed that the Brezza will get a host of new features – and most of them will be offered on the base variant itself. While we haven’t got hold of the exact feature list, some of the expected ones are: a new 10.1-inch infotainment unit, sunroof, ventilated seats, 360-degree camera, 6 airbags as standard, additional safety features, and more. According to dealers, the new-gen Brezza will offer the infotainment screen, push-button start, and other features from the base variant.
Design-wise, the updated SUV will see some cosmetic enhancements, including a new grille, revised bumpers, new headlamps and taillamps, and a new set of alloys. The new-gen Brezza will also get some new colour options to make it look fresh. Apart from the design, Maruti will revise the platform to offer an underbody CNG cylinder for its compact SUV. This will help liberate more boot space. According to the details we have, the Brezza is expected to offer 298 litres of boot space (CNG), while the petrol variant’s boot space remains the same as before: 328 litres.
Another interesting change will be seen under the hood. Maruti will offer the new-gen Brezza with two petrol engine options: a 1.0-litre BoosterJet turbo petrol engine from the Fronx and a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine (current). As the power figures of the 1.0-litre engine might feel underpowered or match those of the 1.5-litre engine, Maruti will likely increase the power and torque. Sources claim that the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine might produce around 110bhp & 170Nm; exact details are still awaited. Transmission duties will be handled by a 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT; the turbo option will only be available with MT. The CNG option will be paired with the NA petrol engine, just like the current model, and will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

What Else?
With the downsized engine option, Maruti will be able to save around Rs. 1 – 1.5 lakh per model. This will eventually help the brand to price this updated compact SUV quite competitively. The new-gen Brezza is expected to launch by 23 July, and we expect it to be priced between Rs 8.5 lakh and Rs 16 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
