Top 3 Underrated Cars – Citroen C3X
Pricing – Rs. 5.93 – 11.36 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)
The Citroen C3X is one of the most value-for-money options out there. You can get the top-end model (NA manual) for less than Rs 10 lakh. The C3X is packed with features, including electrically adjustable ORVMs, a 10.24-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and much more.
Even the powertrain options are extensive, as you get two engine options – 1.2-litre NA petrol and 1.2-litre turbo-petrol. The NA engine comes with a 5-speed manual as standard, whereas the turbo-petrol is offered with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. The 1.2-litre NA petrol is also available with a CNG kit.
The reason for the C3’s poor sales is its reputation. While it offers a great package that very few in the segment can match, it suffers from a poor after-sales network. If you are planning to buy the C3X in a metropolitan city (where Citroen service centres are plentiful), the C3 has no glaring flaws.

Hyundai i20
Pricing – Rs 7.14 – 12.74 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai)
What was once the premium hatchback of choice for the country is often forgotten. The i20 still offers a great mixture of features, reliability and practicality. Moreover, you don’t have to worry about the sales network either. The only plausible reasons why the i20 may not be as popular as before are the rise in SUV demand and the Baleno’s popularity,
While the top Asta (O) trim may exceed the Rs 10 lakh mark, the Sportz (O) Knight edition is a great offering for less than Rs 10 lakh. With this variant, you get an 8-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, voice-assisted sunroof, electrically adjustable ORVM, rear AC vents, cruise control, etc. The i20 is available with a sole 1.2-litre NA petrol engine. Gearbox options include a 5-speed manual and an iVT gearbox.

Pricing – Rs 6.81 – 12.26 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)
The demand for Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter has overshadowed other compact SUVs like the Kiger. The only downside is the service network, as it comes up short against Tata and Hyundai in that regard.
With the Kiger, you get features like an 8-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, auto headlamps, electrically adjustable ORVMs with auto-fold, automatic climate control, 7-inch digital driver’s display, etc.
There are two engines on offer – a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.0-litre NA petrol engine. As for the gearbox options, the NA petrol is offered with a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT, while the turbo-petrol comes equipped with either a 6-speed MT or a CVT gearbox.
