Mahindra Racing’s Nick De Vries Charges To Victory
Mahindra Racing has registered its second victory of the 2025/26 Formula E season, with Nyck de Vries winning a dramatic wet-dry Tokyo E-Prix
Mahindra Racing has added another victory to its strong 2025/26 FIA Formula E campaign. Nyck de Vries won Round 15 of the championship in Tokyo, securing his second victory of the season and sixth Formula E win of his career. The result also marks an important milestone for Mahindra Racing. It is the first time since the 2017/18 season that the Indian team has secured multiple Formula E victories in a single season.
Mahindra Racing Wins Tokyo E-Prix
Tokyo hosted Rounds 14 and 15, with Mahindra Racing scoring 38 points across the weekend. Saturday saw Edoardo Mortara start from second and remain in podium contention before eventually finishing fifth. De Vries had a difficult opening race after suffering a first-lap puncture and finished 17th.

Things changed significantly on Sunday. Mortara dominated the qualifying Duels and secured pole position, beating Antonio Felix da Costa by six-tenths in the final. It was Mortara’s fourth pole of the season, equalling the Formula E record for the most poles in a single season while also establishing new personal and Mahindra Racing records.

The second race started behind the Safety Car due to wet conditions. Mortara initially maintained the lead, while de Vries dropped to seventh as Mahindra had opted for tyre pressures suited to a drying circuit. That decision eventually worked in de Vries’ favour. As conditions improved, he began moving through the field and progressed to sixth during his first Attack Mode deployment.

On Lap 26, de Vries activated his remaining six minutes of Attack Mode and charged through the leading group to take first place. A late multi-car incident involving Mortara brought out the red flag. That set up a one-lap sprint to the finish, with de Vries having Nick Cassidy and Jake Dennis behind him. He held position to take the chequered flag and Mahindra Racing’s second victory of the season.
Championship Fight Heads To London
Victory earned de Vries 25 points and moved him to ninth in the Drivers’ Championship. Mortara currently sits fifth despite his retirement from Sunday’s race. More importantly, Mahindra Racing now has 210 points in the Teams’ Championship, just one point behind third-placed Andretti.
The result continues Mahindra’s long-running electric motorsport programme at a time when the company is also expanding its electric vehicle presence on the road. The Formula E programme remains the performance end of Mahindra’s broader electric mobility story, fitting with the brand’s #ScreamElectric positioning.
Only two races now remain in the 2025/26 Formula E season. Rounds 16 and 17 will be held in London on 15-16 August, where Mahindra Racing will have an opportunity to fight for a top-three finish in the Teams’ Championship.
