Toyota is one of the most loved brands in India thanks to its reliable cars with bulletproof engines. Over the years, Toyota has brought in many different cars, including hatchbacks, SUVs, sedans and even pick-up trucks. And now, Toyota has launched another popular model in India, and it looks quite exciting, especially considering the most loved SUV of India, the Fortuner, will likely borrow most of its features and design cues. So, here are all the details of this new Toyota.

New-Gen Toyota Hilux Launched

One of the most popular Toyotas across the globe, the Hilux, has finally been launched in India. With a price tag ranging from Rs 31.99 lakh to Rs 36.69 lakh (ex-showroom), the Hilux is in a league of its own considering the cost as well as the equipment on offer. It is available in GX (4X2), GX (4X4) and VX (4X4) variants, and you have a choice of 6 different colours, namely Sulphur Metallic, Platinum Pearl White Metallic, Attitude Black, Ash, Emotional Red and Super White. That said, let’s take a look at what the new-gen has to offer.

Design

Compared to the outgoing Hilux, the new-gen looks very different thanks to a complete design overhaul. The pick-up truck now gets a sharp yet muscular front-end design, with sleek headlights, a robust skid plate, a new honeycomb grille and “Toyota” lettering on the grille. Down the side, you get to see a new alloy wheel design which is a great combination of tough and stylish. At the rear, it gets bold and engraved “Toyota” lettering, replacing the decal logo, a fresh new set of LED taillights, and a blacked-out bumper. That said, the design of the new-gen Hilux is quite modern but still has a rugged charm.

New-Gen Toyota Hilux Features

With the new-gen, the Hilux gets a slew of new features when compared to the old one. New features include a dual 12.3-inch screen setup, a 360-degree camera with parking support, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, powered and ventilated front seats, an 8-speaker sound system, a tailgate assist, a wireless charger and much more. It also gets off-road-centric features like Multi-Terrain Select, Downhill Assist Control, and Advanced 4WD driving modes. Toyota is now offering 7 airbags with the new-gen Hilux.

Powertrain

Much like the existing Hilux, the new-gen model gets the same 2.8-litre diesel engine producing 201bhp and 430Nm of torque with the 6-speed MT and 500Nm of torque with the 6-speed TC. Toyota has also offered the NeoDrive mild-hybrid system with the diesel engine, like on the Fortuner, for better fuel efficiency.

New-Gen Toyota Hilux – What Else?

In India, pick-up trucks have usually been used for commercial purposes, while buyers have preferred SUVs. However, the new Hilux makes a compelling case for itself and might just tempt many new buyers to choose one over an SUV, considering the Hilux’s off-road capabilities along with the new design and punchy performance.
