Hyundai Venue Hybrid

Hyundai launched the new-gen Venue last year, with a slew of new features, improved safety and a fresh design. Along with that, the Venue also received a significant update – a new platform. Now based on the K1 platform, the Venue is the safest SUV in its segment. But that’s not it. This new platform allows for a hybrid powertrain, as the older K2 platform could not accommodate one. On the contrary, Kia has officially confirmed that it will be launching the Sonet Hybrid in 2028. So, being the Venue’s sister car, it is safe to say that the Venue will likely get the same hybrid tech. That said, let’s dive into deeper details regarding this new hybrid powerplant.

What To Expect?

Kia is currently working on a strong hybrid powertrain for the Sonet, and it is likely that the Venue will get the same option. The Nexon offers almost every engine option: a petrol engine, a diesel engine, a CNG option and is also offered as an EV. But offering a hybrid powertrain with the Venue will give the Hyundai SUV an upper hand, especially considering potential buyers in that segment are quite mileage-conscious. We expect to see a 1.2-litre petrol hybrid powertrain, which will offer decent performance and impressive fuel economy figures of up to 25 km/l.

It is likely that this powertrain option will be introduced with a facelift of the Venue, and we can expect it to arrive by early 2028. No other car in this segment offers a hybrid powertrain as of now, and if the Venue and Sonet are the first ones to offer it, it will translate into a bump in sales. Being a strong hybrid powertrain, we can expect Hyundai to charge a premium for the same. Currently, the Hyundai Venue carries a price tag ranging from Rs 9.47 lakh to Rs 19.22 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). We can expect the hybrid models to go up to Rs 21 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
