Hyundai India Celebrates 8 Lakh Connected Car Milestone
Upcoming made-in-India Hyundai electric SUV will offer next-generation connected car technology as standard across all variants
Hyundai Motor India has crossed a major milestone in its connected mobility journey, with more than 8 lakh connected cars now on Indian roads. Building on the growing adoption of its Bluelink connected car platform, the company has announced an ambitious target of achieving 10 lakh cumulative connected car sales by 2027, with plans to double that figure to 20 lakh connected cars by 2030.
Alongside the milestone, Hyundai also confirmed that its upcoming mass-market electric SUV, expected to launch later this year, will offer next-generation connected car technology as standard across all variants. This is expected to be a sub 4m electric SUV which will take on the likes of Nexon EV, planned for launch by October 2026 – ahead of the Diwali festive season.
Hyundai India Connected Car Journey
Connected Cars Gaining Popularity
Hyundai introduced Bluelink in India with the launch of the Venue in 2019, making it the country’s first OEM-fitted connected SUV. Since then, connected car adoption across Hyundai’s portfolio has grown significantly. The share of connected vehicles in Hyundai’s overall sales has increased from 4% in 2019 to 20% in 2026, reflecting the growing demand for software-driven features among Indian car buyers.
Today, Hyundai Bluelink offers more than 70 connected features, including remote engine start and climate control, vehicle health diagnostics, location tracking, remote immobiliser, digital key, trip history, Hyundai Pay, home-to-car connectivity and over 450 AI-powered voice commands across five languages.

Upcoming Hyundai EV To Get Connected Tech As Standard
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from Hyundai’s announcement is that the company’s upcoming made-in-India electric SUV will come equipped with next-generation connected car technology across the entire variant lineup, instead of limiting such features to higher trims.
Commenting on the announcement, Hyundai Motor India Managing Director and CEO Tarun Garg said the new electric SUV will mark another important step in the company’s Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) roadmap by bringing connected mobility and electric mobility together for a wider range of customers. The new electric SUV will become Hyundai’s first locally developed EV for India.

Software Defined Vehicles A Key Focus
Hyundai has also been steadily expanding its Software Defined Vehicle strategy in India through regular software upgrades and Over-the-Air (OTA) updates. Its connected mobility journey has evolved over the years, beginning with Bluelink in 2019, followed by OTA map updates in 2020, next-generation AVNT technology in 2022 and the introduction of the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) with controller OTA capability in 2025.
Beyond Convenience
Apart from convenience features, Hyundai says Bluelink has also played a significant role in improving customer safety. The platform has assisted over 5 lakh motorists through SOS and roadside assistance services, supported around 15,000 crash notification interventions, and helped law enforcement agencies in vehicle tracing and recovery.
With connected vehicle penetration continuing to rise and software becoming an increasingly important part of modern automobiles, Hyundai appears to be positioning connected technologies as a standard offering rather than a premium feature. The upcoming made-in-India electric SUV will be the first step in that direction, while helping the company move closer to its target of 10 lakh connected car sales by 2027.
