Mercedes E-Class Shooting Brake
Estate or shooting brake bodystyle has been popular in the world as it packs the comfort of a sedan and practicality of a station wagon. They’re low slung and look pretty as well. India has not responded well to this genre as SUVs dominate here, but that hasn’t stopped Mercedes-Benz from trying their luck.
After the E-Class All Terrain launched in 2018, Mercedes is testing the new E-Class Estate in India. It was spied testing in December 2025 and is now spied testing again. Automotive enthusiast Dhee Raj Jathan captured this E-Class Estate outside of Mercedes’ R&D centre in Bengaluru, sparking launch speculations.

The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate has been spied testing in India again near the Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) facility at Brigade Tech Garden. This indicates Merc is evaluating it for Indian roads. This test mule is heavily camouflaged, but the E-Class Estate silhouette is unmistakable.
E-Class Estate carries forward the same design and aesthetics as E-Class sedan. Depending on the market, Merc offers Urban Edition with black highlights and unique headlights, followed by Premium, Exclusive Premium, Premium Plus and AMG E53. Except for Urban Editions, all other trims get more sophisticated headlights and only Exclusive Premium gets Merc’s Classic grille and hood ornament.

When compared to the sedan, E-Class Estate offers a significantly more practical boot with a hatchback-style tailgate. Notable design highlights include Merc’s signature grille with three-pointed star detailing, sleek LED headlamps, chrome highlights and a stylish window line. LED tail lamps with star lighting elements, roof rails and other elements are notable.
Roomier Interiors!
On the inside, Mercedes E-Class Estate is expected to MBUX Superscreen with a large central infotainment screen running the latest MBUX interface. TFT instrument cluster, ambient lighting, exquisite materials, ventilated and massaging front seats, powered tailgate, up to 9 airbags and a comprehensive ADAS suite are likely to be on offer. This particular test mule does not seem to have a sunroof, but India doesn’t need one anyways.

Where powertrains are concerned, Mercedes E-Class Estate might offer either a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with mild-hybrid setup or there could be the 2.0L Diesel as well. Considering how niche Estate or Shooting Brake genre is in India, one could expect the premium route and 3.0L 6-cyl Petrol and Diesel engines as well.
As of now, Mercedes has not confirmed whether the E-Class Estate is launching in India or is just undergoing some component testing at MBRDI facility. Globally, the E-Class Estate is positioned as a practical vehicle with sedan-like comfort and practicality of a station wagon. There won’t be any direct rivals for E-Class Estate in India, though.
