Tata Motors has reported strong sales growth across its passenger and commercial vehicle businesses in August 2026. Passenger vehicle sales increased by more than 56% YoY, while commercial vehicle volumes grew 49%. The passenger vehicle business recorded total sales of 67,753 units, while Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles registered 44,411 units during the month.
Tata Domestic PV Sales Cross 65k
Tata recorded domestic passenger vehicle sales of 65,253 units in August 2026, compared to 41,001 units in August 2025. This represents an increase of 24,252 units or 59.15% YoY. Compared to July 2026, when domestic PV sales stood at 62,611 units, volumes increased by 2,642 units or 4.22% MoM.

Exports contributed another 2,500 units, up 8.04% from 2,314 units a year ago. Including exports, Tata’s total passenger vehicle sales reached 67,753 units, compared to 43,315 units in August 2025, registering 56.42% YoY growth. Tata’s passenger vehicle portfolio currently includes Punch, Nexon, Curvv, Sierra, Harrier and Safari, among other models. The company is also preparing the next-generation Nexon, which has recently started road testing.
Tata EV Sales Nearly Double
Electric vehicles were another major highlight of Tata’s August performance. Total EV sales, including domestic and international business, reached 16,549 units, compared to 8,540 units during August 2025. That’s an increase of 8,009 units, translating to 93.78% YoY growth. Tata has one of India’s widest electric passenger vehicle portfolios, spanning multiple price points. Its EV range includes Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV, Curvv EV, Harrier EV and Sierra EV.

Tata CV Sales At 44,411 Units
Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles also registered strong growth in August. Total CV sales stood at 44,411 units, compared to 29,863 units in August 2025, representing 49% YoY growth. Domestic CV sales increased 33% to 36,619 units from 27,481 units last year.
Heavy commercial vehicle truck sales stood at 10,612 units, up 42%, while ILMCV truck volumes increased 20% to 6,859 units. Passenger carrier sales rose 31% to 4,701 units. SCV cargo and pickup sales were the largest contributor at 14,447 units, registering 34% growth over 10,742 units sold a year earlier.
International CV Business Jumps 227%
Tata’s international commercial vehicle business recorded the sharpest increase during August. Sales jumped from 2,382 units last year to 7,792 units, registering 227% YoY growth. Within the MH&ICV business, domestic sales stood at 17,531 units, up 31% from 13,405 units in August 2025. Combined domestic and international MH&ICV sales increased 29% to 18,920 units.
August 2026 was therefore a strong month across both sides of Tata’s automotive business. Domestic passenger vehicle sales crossed 65,000 units, EV volumes nearly doubled, while commercial vehicle sales benefited from strong domestic demand as well as a sharp increase in international business.
