Maruti Wagon R Spotted
One of Maruti’s best-selling cars, the Wagon R, has been spotted draped in a hefty camouflage. It is possible that the hatchback could get a facelift, bringing in a host of new features and technology that add to the practicality of the hatch. The Wagon R was last updated 4 years ago, and it is likely that Maruti is working on giving this hatchback a fresh new design and features. Here’s what we expect to see on the new Wagon R.

Design and Features
With the facelift, we expect to see a new grille design, revised front and rear bumpers, a new DRL design, new alloy wheel options and a few other cosmetic changes. From the spy shots, it looks like Maruti has offered a larger touchscreen for the Wagon R – possibly a 9-inch touchscreen. Other expected features include a 360-degree camera, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a few new safety features. It is likely that Maruti could improve the safety of the vehicle, as we have witnessed with the brand’s other cars.

Maruti Wagon R Facelift – Powertrain And Pricing
While the test mule didn’t reveal many details, it does seem to have an underbody CNG tank, similar to the one we saw on the new Brezza and Victoris. This tech saves a lot of boot space without compromising on the lower running costs of CNG. Along with the underbody CNG, we expect the Wagon R to get the new 1.2-litre Z-series engine. This engine is also built with a hybrid set-up in mind, which is also expected to arrive. Maruti will likely offer the 1.2-litre Z-series engine only, instead of a 1.0-litre petrol and a 1.2-litre petrol engine.
We expect the hatchback to offer a claimed mileage of around 35 km/l. Maruti will likely price the Wagon R facelift from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). It is expected to be launched by the end of 2026 or early 2027. The series-hybrid version of the Wagon R could arrive late next year.
