New Renault SUV Coming To India: What To Expect?
The SUV in question is the Renault Bridger—a new sub-compact SUV from the French brand that comes home bearing heavy expectations. The Bridger will be offered with a range of powertrain options and a healthy list of features. But the spotlight will be on Renault’s new 1.2-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain that will help it achieve segment-leading fuel efficiency of 30 km/l. This engine is based on the Miller Cycle, a cycle used in engines designed to extract maximum efficiency.
Renault Bridger Engine Options
Renault tested this 1.2-litre engine at the Vienna Motor Symposium in a Dacia Duster, which returned a fuel economy of 30 km/l. Since the Bridger weighs less than the Duster, it could likely achieve more than 30 km/l.
We also expect Renault to offer a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, and industry sources say the Bridger could be the first in its segment to offer all-wheel drive (AWD). This makes it a very interesting offering in its segment, which is mostly catered for the ordinary buyer. Let’s take a look at the equipment we expect the Bridger to come with.

The Bridger has to fight with tech-loaded cars in its segment, so we expect Renault to prep it accordingly. Expected features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, Level-2 ADAS, and more.
Expected Launch And Price
We expect the French manufacturer to launch the Bridger by late 2027 or early 2028. Pricing is expected to be between Rs. 9 lakh and Rs. 15 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
