Mumbai: Indian and international carriers have begun a cautious transition toward normalising operations following days of severe aviation disruption sparked by escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. While major hubs like Dubai and Doha remain under significant restrictions, a combination of relief schedules and dedicated repatriation missions will be providing a lifeline to tens of thousands of stranded travelers. Dubai-based Emirates, one of the biggest carriers globally, announced on Thursday that it is moving from a total suspension of scheduled services to a reduced flight schedule. The airline confirmed it will operate more than 100 flights from Dubai until Friday to transport passengers with existing and confirmed bookings. The operations are being prioritised for customers with earlier bookings and essential cargo like perishables and pharmaceuticals.Another major Middle Eastern carrier Qatar Airways announced that it has started to organise and operate a limited number of relief flights. The planned services include flights from Muscat to London Heathrow, Berlin, Copenhagen, Madrid, Rome and Amsterdam as well as from Riyadh to Frankfurt. However, it stated that it will contact the affected passengers directly with their flight details, arrangements and next steps.Indian carriers have also launched a massive repatriation effort to bring back thousands of Indians stranded across the Gulf countries. SpiceJet announced that it will operate 23 additional flights from the United Arab Emirates to India on Friday and Saturday. This includes flights from Fujairah to Delhi and Mumbai as well as Dubai to Mumbai and Pune. Akasa Air will also operate one set of flights on the Mumbai-Jeddah route on Friday.

Air India continues to operate its scheduled flights on Delhi-Jeddah-Mumbai route as well as two sets of flights on Mumbai-Jeddah-Mumbai route. Its low-cost carrier Air India Express also continues to operate additional flights from Muscat to Delhi and Mumbai till Saturday. It is also operating special flights from UAE’s Ras Al Khaimah to Mumbai, Delhi and Cochin till Saturday.
