2026 Audi Q3
To tackle the growing popularity of the other two German car brands in India, Mercedes-Benz and BMW, Audi India is getting ready to launch a new wave of product offensive. In that regard, Audi India head, Balbir Singh Dhillon, has just spilled the beans and revealed an aggressive product portfolio expansion plan.
The company has now confirmed three vehicles landing in India in the near future to broaden the horizon of their portfolio and their appeal to Indian luxury car buyers. Upcoming vehicles are confirmed to be new generation Q3 SUV and A5 sedan along with the just debuted flagship Q9 three-row full-size SUV, while evaluating feasibility of Q6 e-tron.
2026 Audi Q3
3 New Audi Launch – Q3, A5, Q9 Confirmed
The first of these three to launch in India will be new generation Q3 SUV, which is expected to launch in 4th quarter of 2026. A5 sedan will be the next in line, expected to roll down Indian roads in the 1st half of 2027. After that Audi India will launch their just debuted flagship Q9 SUV, which will be positioned above the popular Q7.
Dhillon further mentioned that all three could be launched sooner than estimated, probably within the next nine months. With the launch of these three vehicles in our market, Audi’s Indian lineup will get closer to their global lineup. This new strategy is to increase Audi’s market share in India’s luxury vehicle segment and boost sales.
Audi A5 Sedan
When compared to the peak of 11,192 units sold in the year 2025, Audi has lost significant market share as sales number in the year 2025 stood at 4,510 cars, which is less than half from a decade ago. 2015 was when Audi led the luxury car segment in India for a brief period too and now Audi’s market share is close to 8-9%.
Within the next 4-5 years, Audi India wants to flip the script and boost their current market share to around 18-20%. The company is also evaluating to boost local assembly operations of their vehicles in India at Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd (SAVWIPL) facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, including the upcoming flagship Q9.
New Audi Q9 SUV
What to expect?
The company has confirmed that new generation Q3 will lead this new product onslaught and it will be priced in-line with its rivals this time. As per brand’s internal assessment, highest-spec and mid-spec trims account for 55% and 35% of the sales. Hence Audi is likely to shy away from offering lower-spec trim with low price tag to undercut rivals and chase volumes.
Upcoming A5 sedan will replace the current A4, even though it is not a direct alternative. The company is also working to overhaul their dealer network to meet Audi’s latest global showroom format. The company has not divulged much about possible Diesel engine comeback, nor about possible surge in PHEVs.
