A video showing a heated argument between a judge and lawyers inside Delhi’s Rohini Court has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread discussion within legal circles. The video captures a tense exchange between an Additional District Judge (ADJ) posted at Rohini Court and an office-bearer of the Bar Association during court proceedings. Several lawyers can be seen standing inside the courtroom as the verbal confrontation escalates.
According to reports, the altercation took place during a hearing when a heated argument broke out between the judge and lawyers. The exchange allegedly involved abusive language, with one lawyer reportedly calling the judge an “addict.” Court staff later intervened to prevent the matter from escalating further.Following the incident, the Coordination Committee of all District Court Bar Associations in Delhi issued a statement condemning the alleged conduct of DJ-04 Rakesh Kumar-V of the North-West District, Rohini Court. The committee described the behaviour during the proceedings as “highly objectionable, inappropriate, and unacceptable,” particularly toward an advocate who also serves as the president of the Rohini Court Bar Association.
The committee further demanded immediate and strict action against the judicial officer concerned, stating that any behaviour affecting the dignity and decorum of the judiciary should not be tolerated. It also expressed concern over complaints regarding the conduct of certain judicial officers and urged the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court to take corrective and institutional measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
The viral courtroom video has since sparked debate online over courtroom decorum, professional conduct, and rising tensions within sections of the legal system.
