Used Luxury Car At The Price Of A Fronx

The luxury car is a Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Empire Autoz, a used car dealer in Chandigarh, has advertised a used C 220d ‘Edition C’ for sale at a very tempting price. To be specific, the car advertised is a 2014 limited-edition C 220d ‘Edition C’. It was launched in India in 2013, and only 500 units were up for grabs. When new, its on-road price was north of Rs. 45 lakh!

According to the dealer’s post, it is a first-owner diesel model with a VIP Chandigarh registration number. The car has done 90,000 km, which is on the higher side. But it shouldn’t be an issue, as Mercedes diesel engines are known to be long-lasting, and CH-registered cars are known for their top-notch maintenance. This could be why the dealer claims the car has all its original parts, meaning it hasn’t been in an accident.

Gloss-black radiator grille

Smoked headlamps

17-inch two-tone alloy wheels

In-car navigation system

Sports seats with contrast stitching

As a diesel variant, it comes with Mercedes’ 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, producing about 170 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a seven-speed torque converter automatic, the only gearbox option available.

The cabin design of this generation of Mercedes cars wasn’t the best. However, it can still be considered a luxurious space that comes with most creature comforts relevant today. This one also offers a dash of sportiness, with the sports seats.

And now, the price. The dealer’s asking price for this C-Class is Rs. 7.90 lakh, which a serious buyer can always negotiate. This price is lower than that of a brand-new Maruti Fronx! So, at the price of a crossover, you get a sporty German luxury sedan that’s limited edition, has a VIP registration number, and, being a diesel, will also be quite efficient!

Used Luxury Car: What MotorOctane Says

While it is a tempting deal, it is always wise to set aside a separate budget for unforeseen repairs on a used car. Thankfully, among German luxury carmakers in India, Mercedes is considered to be the most economical in terms of service and repair costs. However, the spares and maintenance costs for a Mercedes will be much higher than those for a Fronx. So, if you do wish to buy the C-Class over a new Fronx, be prepared to spend more on fuel, service and maintenance.
