A first innings century from Devdutt Padikkal and a match haul of 10 wickets from Manav Suthar saw India seal a comfortable win over Sri Lanka in the first Test at Galle. Chasing an improbable 372, Sonal Dinusha kept the hosts in the game but Suthar and Co spun a web to skittle them out for 206. Sri Lanka resumed Day 5 at 84/4, still needing 288 runs to win. Sonal Dinusha and skipper Dhananjaya de Silva struck half-centuries to keep the Indian attack at bay for the first 90 minutes. However, Indians found a way through Jadeja, who dismissed de Silva for 54. Niroshan Dickwella was accounted for by Prasidh Krishna to end any Sri Lankan hopes. Manav Suthar then finished the game off in a jiffy. He struck thrice in one over, before accouting for Keshara Nuwantha to deliver a 165-run win for the visitors.
