Maruti recently launched the CNG AMT versions of the Swift, Baleno and Dzire, and the Dzire CNG AMT is the most fuel-efficient of the three. It is offered in two trims: VXi and ZXi. Here’s a detailed on-road price breakdown of both variants in the top seven Indian cities.

Maruti claims the Dzire CNG AMT returns 36.47 km/kg, which is 2.74 km/kg more than its CNG manual version (33.73 km/kg). That makes it India’s most fuel-efficient sedan. On paper, it edges past the Celerio CNG (34.43 km/kg) and the WagonR CNG (34.05 km/kg), the earlier mileage leaders in the CNG space. However, these are claimed figures, and real-world mileage will depend on traffic and driving style.

More About The Dzire CNG Automatic
The Dzire CNG Automatic uses the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, Z-series petrol engine as the manual version. In the CNG mode, it makes 68 bhp and 101 Nm of torque, and is paired with a 5-speed AMT. The features match the regular VXi and ZXi trims, and the AMT costs around Rs. 35,000 more than the CNG manual.
The trade-off is boot space. The CNG tank sits in the boot, so luggage space is far less than the regular model. Maruti has tweaked the suspension to handle the extra weight. Its closest rival, the Tata Tigor CNG AMT, uses a twin-cylinder setup that leaves more usable boot space.
If you spend most of your time in city traffic and want lower running costs without the hassle of a clutch, the Dzire CNG AMT is now one of the easiest CNG cars to live with.
