Pricing-wise, the Sorento is quite an affordable SUV compared to the Fortuner. While the top-end of the standard Fortuner, the GR-Sport, tops out at Rs. 62.47 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), the top HTX variant of the Kia Sorento, with a petrol-hybrid powertrain, costs Rs. 47.81 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai). This creates a huge price gap between the two SUVs competing in the same segment.
Both the SUVs offer a hybrid setup; the one included with the Fortuner is a mild-hybrid option available with the diesel mill, while the setup available with the Sorento is a strong-hybrid option available with the petrol engine.
The Kia Sorento is available with all-wheel drive (AWD), while the Fortuner is known for its hardcore 4×4 setup. Both SUVs are expected to offer good off-road capability, while the Fortuner could excel in more areas than its new competition.
