Mahindra XUV 7XO Hybrid
As per industry sources, Mahindra is working on a new hybrid technology for its SUVs. The electric models could benefit from range-extender tech, while the ICE models like the XUV 7XO are expected to get a standard strong-hybrid powertrain.
Mahindra is reportedly working on hybrid technology for its 1.2-litre and 1.5-litre petrol engines. The 1.2-litre could be used on its compact SUVs, while the popular XUV7XO would likely get the 1.5-litre motor. With the hybrid technology, the XUV7XO could flaunt healthy mileage figures of around 20-25 kmpl. Such figures are quite impressive for a heavy 7-seater like the XUV7XO.

Expected Pricing & Launch
This hybrid technology won’t come cheap. The hybrid trims could be priced between Rs 25 – 35 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). At first, this pricing may seem steep, but in the long run, it could prove crucial. For owners with high running costs, this could save tens of thousands, if not lakhs.
Speculation suggests that the 7XO hybrid could be launched in 2028. Primarily, it seems that Mahindra is focusing on range-extender technology for the XEV9E, with the HEV models to follow. It is very likely that the XUV3XO could be launched as a hybrid shortly after the XUV7XO.
Mahindra XUV 7XO Hybrid – What Else?
Features have never been the XUV7XO’s weakness, and it won’t be the case with the hybrid either. It would get a similar equipment list as the standard models, which means that it could get –
Triple-screen layout
Front and rear wireless chargers
Panoramic sunroof
Level-2 ADAS
540-degree camera
16-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system
Ventilated front and rear seats
Powered front seats
Automatic climate control
On the outside, it could be difficult to differentiate the hybrid from the standard ICE unit. Other than a couple of hybrid badges and aerodynamic alloys, it is expected to look identical to the petrol/diesel versions.
