MG was one of the pioneers in India’s EV adoption movement. The ZS EV made electric cars more accessible than before. However, its time seems to be coming to an end, as MG is set to replace it with the new MG4 EV. Here is what you should know about it. Attention Readers! MG4 EV – What To Expect?
The MG4 seems like a mixture of a hatchback and an SUV. It lacks the butch, rugged look of an SUV, but the black cladding treatment gives it an SUV-like essence. It is not overly attractive, but it has been designed to allow for a roomy interior.
Many would also argue that the ZS EV is a more handsome-looking car. However, the looks aren’t the main marketing point. Once you step inside, you will realise why this is a worthy successor. We can get such a thorough idea by looking at the global-spec MG4 model.

Features
While the ZS EV is quite feature-packed, the MG4 offers an even longer list of features. Some of the notable features include –
ADAS
360-degree camera
Wireless charging
10.25-inch digital driver’s display
Automatic climate control
Powered driver seat
TPMS
12.8-inch infotainment screen
Electrically adjustable ORVM
Importantly, the interior is quite roomy and can comfortably accommodate 5 people. Unfortunately, it isn’t the most practical as it gets a small 388-litre boot. In comparison, the Creta electric offers a 433-litre boot. Even the ZS EV offers a larger boot.

MG4 EV – Battery Packs
In the UK, it is offered with two battery packs –
64kWh (231bhp)
77kWh (245bhp)
The base 61.7kWh pack has a claimed range of 450km, while the 74.4kWh offers 544km of range. You can charge both battery packs from 10% to 80% in less than 40 minutes with a fast charger.

Expected Launch & Pricing
The MG4 EV is expected to be launched later this year. Initially, it will be sold alongside the ZS EV, but slowly, the ZS EV production will be phased out. If you are planning to buy the ZS EV, you can make the most out of its current discounts.
We expect the MG4 to compete against the likes of Creta electric, e Vitara, BE6 and the Urban Cruiser Ebella. This means that its pricing could be somewhere between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Since MG has received a great response for the Windsor and its BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) scheme, the MG4 would be offered with a similar scheme as well.
