2026 BMW 7 Series and i7 Launched in India

We’re referring to the new 7 Series and i7 EV. Compared with the outgoing model, the 2026 7 Series and i7 feature a new, much flatter face. The kidney grille (with halo glow illumination), headlights, and bumper have been revised. Unfortunately, the grille remains as big as before. The new crystal headlights feature diamond-cut glass elements produced by Swarovski. A new, larger, and matte-finish BMW logo sits on top of the new grille.

The same applies at the rear. The taillight and bumper design have been revised. On the sides, the 2026 model features a new character line that runs the length of the car, along with new flush door handles. The 20-inch alloy wheel design has also been refreshed (21-inch on the i7 M70). The car’s overall shape and dimensions remain unchanged.

The air curtains and central front air intake are larger on the BMW i7 M70 xDrive than on the standard 7 Series models.

Here’s a look at the key premium features offered by the new 7 Series:

M Sport Package

Panoramic iDrive (with OS X) that combines a 17.9-inch central screen, a 3D head-up display, a new multifunction steering wheel, and information projection on the entire lower portion of the windscreen.

14.6-inch touchscreen for the front passenger

Roof-mounted 31.3-inch 8K theatre screen

Bowers & Wilkins diamond surround sound system

Radar-operated automatic doors

Panoramic glass roof with sky LED illumination

Engine & Performance

The new 7 Series (740) is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo petrol engine that develops 396 bhp and 580 Nm of torque. The powertrain also includes a 48V mild-hybrid system with a 17.4 bhp electric motor and an eight-speed torque converter automatic. This means the new 740 can do 0-100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds.

This time, BMW has also launched the most powerful 7 Series ever made in India, the i7 M70 xDrive. It is powered by a 112.4 kWh battery pack that powers two electric motors (one on each end). Combined, the powertrain develops 670 bhp and 1,100 Nm of torque. With such massive output figures, it is not surprising that the i7 M70 xDrive can do 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds – this is performance car territory.

Price

Here are the ex-showroom launch prices:

BMW 740: Rs. 1.95 crore

BMW i7 50 xDrive: Rs. 1.95 crore

BMW i7 M70 xDrive: Rs. 2.65 crore

In addition to the 7 Series, BMW will now also produce the new i7 locally in India. This makes India the only other country, besides Germany, where the i7 is produced locally. The i7 M70 xDrive, however, is only available as a completely built-up unit (CBU).
