Toyota has now launched the new Hilux in India. While we expected several changes, Toyota kept them very minimal. With the minimal changes, the pricing has also received a minimal hike. Now, Toyota might gear up to launch its most awaited SUV, the updated Fortuner, with the same set of changes. But will the Fortuner get such minimal changes too, or is there something more? Here’s a complete breakdown.Attention Readers! Join us on the WhatsApp Community for daily auto news updates.
New-Gen Toyota Fortuner: Changes Expected
The Toyota Fortuner and the Toyota Hilux have several similarities; both are based on the same ladder-on-frame platform, share off-road functionalities, and have similar equipment lists. Expect the new-generation Toyota Fortuner to look like the new Hilux.
Expect the Fortuner to get a new honeycomb-type grille, new headlamps and taillamps, revised bumpers, new alloys and more. While it would get so many changes on the exteriors, expect the silhouette to remain as it is. So, no major changes in the dimensions.

On the inside, the Hilux surely gets a revised dashboard layout and a new steering wheel. But the addition of features is kept very minimal. Now, the Hilux is not a core product for Toyota in India; that said, offering a much more advanced suite of features might just inflate the prices too much. However, when it comes to Fortuner, Toyota might not go with the same strategy.
Toyota Fortuner is one of the most popular full-size SUVs, and the Japanese automaker will try to add some more features. It might even start offering more features from the lower trims. We could see a new dashboard layout and a new electronic steering system, an update from the current hydraulic unit.
The 8-inch infotainment and the TFT mid-instrument cluster might be replaced by 12.3-inch units. The Hilux gets a 12.3-inch infotainment, but a 7-inch instrument cluster; in the case of the Fortuner, we can expect both to be 12.3-inch. We could also see the addition of a 360-degree camera (factory-fitted), and not as an accessory. It already has the ventilated seats option, but it is offered in the 4×4 trims. With the update to improve the 4×2 trims, Toyota could offer the ventilated seats option even in the lower variants.
Safety-wise, we expect the Toyota 7-seater SUV to get an ADAS suite. It isn’t confirmed if it will be a normal ADAS or with level 2 functionalities.

Launch & Price
Toyota has not yet revealed the launch timeline of this new-generation Fortuner. However, we expect the updated Toyota Fortuner to launch by mid-2027. Looking at the expected features, the prices might take a hit. At present, the Toyota Fortuner is priced between Rs. 41.63 lakh – Rs. 62.47 lakh (on-road, Mumbai); with the update, expect prices to increase by Rs 80,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh, depending on the variants.
