After months of speculation and a couple of postponements, Nissan has officially launched the Tekton in India. While it is common knowledge by now that it will share its platform with the Duster, does it make sense to buy it over the Renault Duster? Attention Readers! Nissan Tekton Launched
Nissan has taken the covers off the Tekton. Its bookings have officially commenced, with deliveries set to start from the 20th of July. It has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 12.54 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Keep in mind, this pricing is only valid for the first 10,000 bookings. The top variant goes up to Rs 22.02 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The Tekton is offered in 6 variants – Visia, Visia+, Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna and Tekna+. As for colour options, you can choose from 6 colours – Pearl White, Blade Silver, Onyx Black, Moonbow Grey, Flare Garnet Red and Indigo Blue. You can get these colours with a dual-tone scheme as well (except on the Onyx Black).

Looks & Interior
The Tekton may share the platform with the Duster, but it sports a distinct design language, with inverted L-shaped LED DRLs, a connected lightbar, a red stripe running across the grille, and an aggressive front bumper. The taillight design has also been tweaked to set it apart from the French sibling. Moreover, the Tekton also gets sharper-looking 18-inch alloy wheels.
When you step inside the cabin, you are greeted with a similiar cabin layout to the Duster. If not for the Nissan badge on the steering wheel, you wouldn’t be able to tell the Duster apart from the Tekton. The advantage of it sharing the platform with the Duster is the practical cabin. You get a 700-litre boot and sufficient cabin space to carry 5 passengers on a long trip.

Powertrain
The Nissan Tekton is offered with 2 engine choices – 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (99bhp & 166Nm) & a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol (161bhp & 280Nm). The 1.0-litre engine is offered with a 6-speed manual only, as the 6-speed DCT is only available on the more powerful 1.3-litre engine. Interestingly, the Tekton won’t be offered with a 1.8-litre strong hybrid engine. Renault has decided to make the hybrid powertrain exclusive, and Nissan won’t benefit from the hybrid tech.
