Kia Sorento – Safety

The Sorento is already on sale in global markets, which helps us get a thorough idea about its safety. The international-spec model is offered with a whopping 9 airbags as standard. Along with that, it gets the usual safety equipment like TPMS, ESC, ABS, VSM, rollover sensor, etc. This safety equipment list is reflected in its ANCAP rating, where it scored 5 stars. We can expect a similar performance once it is tested for BNCAP.

Screens

The Sorento gets a curved dual-screen setup that consists of two 12.3-inch screens. It also comes equipped with a heads-up display. Wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay come standard with the 12.3-inch touchscreen. But unlike most Kia models, it misses out on the small display between the driver’s display and infotainment screen, which controls the HVAC. Instead, the dual-zone climate control is integrated into the dashboard in a conventional manner.

Kia Sorento – Driver Assists

Globally, the Sorento comes equipped with Level-2 ADAS on the top variants. In India, we expect it to borrow the Level-2+ ADAS suite from the new Kia Seltos. Some of the expected ADAS features include lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, etc. Furthermore, ANCAP puts the car’s safety assists to the test, and the Sorento performed well in that regard. It scored 89% in that department. It also gets other driver-assist features like a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, etc.

Convenience features

The cabin is packed with premium features like ventilated and heated front seats. 10-way powered co-driver seat, 14-way powered driver seat, panoramic sunroof, rear window sunshades, etc. To further emphasise the luxury, the Sorento also gets an option of captain seats in the 2nd row, globally. Furthermore, all 3 rows get dual USB charging ports for added convenience. Predictably, you also get a wireless charging port at the front.

Kia Sorento – Aesthetics

The Sorento is quite the looker from the outside. The 20-inch alloys, vertical LED headlights, roof rails, etc give it a rugged look. Internationally, it gets a plethora of colour options to pick from, and similar options are expected in India.
