The new-gen i20 has been spotted testing in Korea a few times, suggesting its launch isn’t far off. And, as expected, we could also see it on Indian roads following its global launch. From the test mules, the design language seems a bit more angular. Some other expected design tweaks are revised headlights, grille and alloys. But bigger changes are expected on the inside of the cabin.

On the inside, we could see the next-gen i20 borrow some of the features from the Venue. Its expected features include –

New Gen Hyundai i20 – Powertrain
Currently, the i20 is offered with a 1.2-litre NA petrol (87 bhp & 115 Nm) and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (118 bhp & 172 Nm) for the N-line variants. Gearbox options include a 5-speed manual and iVT for the NA petrol and a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT for the turbo-petrol. The same powertrain options are expected to carry over to the next-gen. But importantly, with the rise in CNG demand, Hyundai could offer a dual-cylinder CNG powertrain with the upcoming model. Its rival, the Baleno, has experienced considerable demand for its CNG, and Hyundai could copy Maruti’s recipe for success.

Its main competition is the Maruti Baleno. But it also competes against other hatchbacks like the Tata Altroz and the Toyota Glanza.
New Gen Hyundai i20 – Expected Pricing & Launch
The Baleno is popular due to its affordable price tag. The top-spec i20 is much more expensive than the Baleno, despite offering a similar feature list. Hyundai would need to cut prices to keep up with its rival. At the moment, the i20 costs between Rs 7.08 lakh and Rs 12.59 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
We could see the next-gen i20 on Indian roads by late 2027. Hyundai currently has other models like the Tucson and the new-gen Creta in its pipeline, so you would have to wait longer for the revised i20.
