Skoda Kylaq RS: What Do We Know?
At the Kodiaq RS launch, Skoda India said it is considering a more powerful Kylaq due to strong customer interest. However, the final decision depends on business viability. There is no confirmed timeline yet.
If it happens, the most likely option is the 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engine from the Kushaq and Slavia, which makes 148 bhp and 250 Nm. This is over 30 bhp more than the Kylaq’s current 1.0-litre turbo petrol mill (114 bhp & 178 Nm).

Will It Make Sense?
Performance increases significantly, but there’s a catch. The Kylaq currently enjoys the lower tax slab meant for sub-4m cars in India. A 1.5-litre engine would take it out of that bracket, pushing the price up. The Kylaq is currently priced between Rs. 8.99 lakh and Rs. 15.50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai); we expect the RS to demand a premium of Rs. 2-3 lakh over that.
With Skoda’s packed launch calendar, we expect the Kylaq RS as early as late 2027, and it could arrive as a limited-run model.

What Else?
Skoda is also considering exporting the Kylaq to Europe, possibly with the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. However, it has not made a final decision, and it could tune the engine down to meet emission norms.
