Top 10 scooter sales grew 19% to 7.1 lakh units, with four electric entries accounting for nearly three-fourths of the volume increase
After taking a look at the top 10 two wheelers and top 10 motorcycles last month, let us now discuss India’s top 10 selling scooters. These have recorded combined sales of 6,97,410 units in August 2026, up 17.07% from 5,95,732 units a year earlier. Volumes increased by 1,01,678 units, with nine of the ten entries registering growth.
Top 10 Scooters Aug 2026
Honda Activa sold 2,55,815 units, growing 4.73% over 2,44,271 units in August 2025. It accounted for 36.68% of the top 10 total, adding 11,544 units YoY. TVS Jupiter ranked second with 1,47,450 units, up 3.54% from 1,42,411 units. Activa and Jupiter together contributed 4,03,265 units, representing approximately 57.82% of top 10 volumes.

Suzuki Access secured third position with 69,558 units, registering 14.39% growth over 60,807 units. It added 8,751 units, outperforming the two leaders in percentage growth. Top 3 had over 66% share in the top 10 list.
Chetak, iQube And Vida Post Strong Gains
Bajaj Chetak ranked fourth with 52,248 units, up 272.83% from 14,014 units a year earlier. Its increase of 38,234 unitswas the largest absolute gain among the top 10. TVS iQube followed with 42,882 units, growing 75.50% over 24,434 units. These two electric scooter nameplates together contributed 95,130 units, establishing a substantial presence behind the three leading petrol-powered entries.

TVS Ntorq range of 125cc and 150cc finished sixth with 40,356 units (28,298 units for 125cc and 11,958 units for the 150cc). Honda Dio range took seventh position with 27,670 units (15,208 units Dio 110 and 12,462 units Dio 125), up 7.95%.
Hero Vida followed at 25,558 units, more than doubling its year-earlier tally of 12,273 units with 108.25% growth. Suzuki Burgman recorded 25,345 units, growing 4.77% while Ather Rizta completed the top 10 list with 22,586 units, up 30.22%.

Electric Entries Deliver 74% Of Incremental Volumes
Combined sales of Chetak, iQube, Vida and Rizta reached 1,43,274 units, compared with 68,065 units a year earlier. That represents 110.50% growth, with their share of top 10 volumes rising from approximately 11.43% to 20.54%.
Together, these four entries added 75,209 units, accounting for nearly 74% of the top 10’s net YoY increase. While Activa and Jupiter continued to dominate overall volumes, electric scooters were the main growth contributors within this group.

Domestic Scooter Sales Rise 23.76%
Overall domestic scooter sales reached 8,55,715 units in August 2026, up 23.76% from 6,91,430 units a year earlier. Sales also increased 7.21% over July’s 7,98,190 units. The top 10 accounted for 81.50% of domestic scooter volumes. Their 17.07% growth was below the wider market’s increase, indicating that scooters outside this group also contributed significantly to the expansion.
Exports stood at 68,085 units, up 5.05% YoY, although they declined 6.94% from July. Combined domestic sales and exports reached 9,23,800 units, registering 22.16% annual growth and 6.02% monthly growth.
