When you think of seven-seater cars in India, generally, the names that come to mind include the Mahindra XUV 7XO and the Scorpio N, to name a few. Top Four 7-Seater Cars Under Rs 15 Lakh: Nissan Gravite/Renault Triber
The Renault Triber and Nissan Gravite are closely related compact MPVs. The Gravite is essentially Nissan’s version of the Triber. Both cars share the same CMF-A+ platform, dimensions, and 1.0-litre petrol powertrain. However, both cars offer different styling and some equipment differences.
The 1.0-litre three-cylinder NA petrol engine powering both these cars produces 71 bhp and 96 Nm of torque. Both models are available with five-speed manual and five-speed AMT gearboxes. The Nissan Gravite offers a factory-fitted CNG option starting from its base variant, whereas the Renault Triber relies on a dealer-level or aftermarket CNG retrofit.
Even though this Renault-Nissan duo represents the entry-level seven-seater segment, it comes with a substantial number of features, some of which are unique to it. For example, the third-row seats are fully removable, allowing the car to be used as a perfect five-seater whenever needed. You also get over 1,000 litres of boot space when the second-row seats are fully folded. Common features include a floating 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, cruise control, automatic headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers.
If this wasn’t enough, Renault is reportedly gearing up to launch the Triber Turbo and Turbo CNG models this month! This will also remove this capable MPV’s only limitation: feeling underpowered when loaded to full capacity.
The Gravite is priced between Rs. 6.87 lakh and Rs. 10.80 lakh, while the Triber will cost between Rs. 6.81 lakh and Rs. 10.15 lakh. Prices are on-road in Mumbai and include the CNG variants.

Mahindra Bolero
The Mahindra Bolero is the most affordable seven-seater SUV on this list and offers a completely different proposition from the Gravite and Triber. Compared to these compact MPVs, the Bolero is the king of the jungle when it comes to ruggedness and off-road capability. Surprisingly, even though the Bolero might not look like it, it is a sub-4-metre SUV!
A 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo diesel engine powers the Bolero, which develops about 75 bhp and 210 Nm of torque. For the SUV’s size, do not expect punchy performance – this diesel is meant to be a cruiser with strong low-end grunt. A five-speed manual is the only gearbox available. With rear-wheel drive, a manual gearbox, and a ladder-frame chassis, the Bolero is one of the most no-nonsense cars on sale in India.
In terms of features, the Bolero includes power steering, manual AC & heater, power windows, central locking, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, a digital instrument cluster, steering-mounted audio controls, foldable third-row seats, leatherette upholstery, and alloy wheels, among others.
The Bolero is priced between Rs. 10.16 lakh and Rs. 11.91 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Keep in mind that many of the above-mentioned features are available from the second-highest B6 (O) trim onwards.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
The Ertiga is arguably the most well-rounded family car among the affordable seven-seaters. Its biggest advantages are its spacious cabin, relatively comfortable third row, strong fuel-efficiency figures and Maruti’s extensive service network. At nearly 4.4 metres long, the Ertiga is a proper seven-seater people carrier – the key reason behind its popularity in the commercial segment.
A 1.5-litre, four-cylinder K15C smart hybrid petrol engine powers the Ertiga, which develops about 101 bhp and 139 Nm of torque. A five-speed manual is standard, with the option of a six-speed torque converter. The factory-fitted S-CNG variants are available with an MT only.
For an affordable people mover, the Ertiga comes with pretty good features. The list includes automatic climate control, push-button start, cruise control, electrically adjustable/foldable ORVMs, a rear parking camera, and a second-row one-touch tumble/slide mechanism for easier third-row access, among others. The front occupants get a seven-inch SmartPlay Pro touchscreen infotainment system, while rear passengers get features like roof-mounted rear AC vents with three-stage fan-speed control, USB-C fast-charging ports, and multiple utility spaces for storage.
The Ertiga is priced between Rs. 10.45 lakh and Rs. 15.47 lakh. Prices are on-road in Mumbai and include the CNG variants. A little stretch over Rs. 15 lakh can also get you the fully loaded Ertiga variant.
