1. JSW-MG Starlight 560 – Upcoming Cars Under Rs 30 Lakh

Launch Date – July 16, 2026

Expected Pricing – Rs 18 lakh to Rs 30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

JSW-MG has confirmed that it will be launching a new energy vehicle on July 16, 2026, and we believe it is none other than the Starlight 560. The Starlight 560 is rumoured to replace the Hector Plus, offering more features than ever and an all-new powertrain. The highlight of this SUV will be its hybrid powertrain – a 1.5-litre petrol engine along with a 20.5kWh battery pack producing 195bhp and 230Nm of torque. This powertrain will likely offer a claimed mileage of around 20-22kmpl, which would be quite impressive for an SUV of its size. It will also be offered as an EV with a claimed range of 530km. It is expected to get features like a 12.8-inch touchscreen, an 8.8-inch instrument cluster, powered and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof and much more.

2. Tata Safari EV

Launch Date – Diwali 2026

Expected Pricing – Rs 23 lakh to Rs 32 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

Another 7-seater SUV coming soon is the Tata Safari EV. Likely to be launched by the festive season, the Safari EV will combine the practicality of a 7-seater and the performance and off-road capabilities of the Harrier.ev. The Safari EV will essentially be a Harrier.ev with an extra row. It is expected to get features like a 14.5-inch touchscreen, a digital IRVM, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 540-degree camera, powered and ventilated front seats, ventilated second row seats (captain seats), level 2+ ADAS and much more. We expect the Safari EV to get the same 65kWh and 75kWh battery packs, with the larger pack getting QWD. It will be interesting to see how it fares against the Mahindra XEV 9S.

3. Jaecoo J7 – Upcoming Cars Under Rs 30 Lakh

Launch Date – End of 2026

Expected Pricing – Rs 23 lakh to Rs 30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

JSW is working on a hefty portfolio to introduce in India, and the Jaecoo J7 is one of the cars in its list. The J7 is a 5-seater SUV that will directly take on the Harrier. It is expected to get a 1.5-litre petrol hybrid powertrain delivering impressive mileage figures. It will likely get features like a 14.8-inch touchscreen, an 8-speaker Sony sound system, a powered driver seat, ventilated front seats, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and much more.

4. Mahindra BE 07

Launch Date – End of 2026 or early 2027

Expected Pricing – Rs 22 lakh to Rs 33 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

Mahindra has gained great success from its BEVs like the XEV 9e, BE 6 and the XEV 9S. And now, the brand is working on a new electric SUV, the BE 07, which will be a more sober version of the BE 06. We expect the eSUV to get a slew of features like a triple screen setup, powered and ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass roof, Level 2+ ADAS, and much more. We expect the BE 07 to get the same battery pack options as the BE 06: a 59kWh battery pack and a 79kWh battery pack. However, we believe that Mahindra could offer a dual-motor setup and AWD with the BE 07 to put up a tough fight against the Tata Harrier.ev.

5. Renault Boreal – Upcoming Cars Under Rs 30 Lakh

Launch Date – Diwali 2026

Expected Pricing – Rs 18 lakh to Rs 27 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

Renault launched the Duster earlier this year to take on the highly competitive segment. And soon, the French carmaker is expected to bring in a 7-seater version of the SUV named the Boreal. The Boreal will be a practical 7-seater SUV, which will take on the mighty Mahindra XUV 7XO and the Tata Safari. We expect the SUV to borrow most of its features from the Duster. These include a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a panoramic glass roof, powered and ventilated front seats, level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera and much more. It is expected to get the same engine options: a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.8-litre petrol hybrid engine. As it will be underpinned by the RGMP platform, we could expect to see a 4WD version of the same.
