Upcoming CNG Cars – Hyundai Bayon CNG

The Bayon will be Hyundai’s all-new mid-size SUV, slotting between the Venue and the upcoming next-gen Creta. It is also expected to be the brand’s first SUV over four metres with a factory-fitted CNG option.
It is expected to use the Creta’s 1.5-litre NA petrol engine (113 bhp and 144 Nm) in petrol mode. In CNG, we expect around 20-22 km/kg. The model is expected to launch next month and be priced between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 17 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Renault Triber CNG

The Triber is one of India’s most affordable seven-seaters, but its current dealer-fitted CNG kit eats up most of the boot. Renault is now working on a factory-fitted CNG offering mounted under the floor on its new RGEP platform, which should keep the boot usable.
The engine is not confirmed yet. A test mule stopped with Turbo and CNG stickers hints at the Kiger’s 1.0-litre turbo petrol, though the current 1.0-litre NA petrol engine is also possible. Mileage is expected to be around 20-24 km/kg, and the price could be between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 11 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Renault has confirmed the new version of the Triber for this month.

Toyota Glanza CNG AMT
Maruti has just added a CNG AMT to the Baleno, and its Toyota twin is expected to follow. The Glanza facelift is reportedly launching on October 14, and the CNG-AMT could arrive with it or soon after. Right now, the Glanza CNG is sold only with a manual gearbox. As with the Baleno, the CNG cylinder will likely sit in the boot, leaving limited luggage space.
It should get the same 1.2-litre NA petrol engine as the Baleno, paired with a 5-speed AMT. The current Glanza CNG is claimed to deliver 30.61 km/kg; with the new AMT gearbox option, mileage is expected to increase. The CNG Automatic variants of the Glanza could be priced at Rs 9.8 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Kia Sonet CNG
Kia has confirmed it is developing factory-fitted CNG models and has already introduced them on the Carens and Carens Clavis. The Sonet looks like a natural next candidate to take on the Maruti Brezza CNG and Tata Nexon CNG.
CNG is expected to be offered with the 1.2-litre NA petrol engine with a manual gearbox. Kia could also offer CNG with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol to rival the Nexon iCNG, the only turbo CNG SUV on sale right now. We expect a mileage of around 22-24 km/kg and a starting price of around Rs 11 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Kia has not announced a launch timeline yet.

Skoda Kylaq CNG
Skoda is reportedly working on its first-ever factory-fitted CNG car, and the Kylaq could be the first model to get it. It will rival the Brezza CNG and Nexon CNG.
It will use the 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine (114 bhp and 178 Nm in petrol mode), with power dropping slightly in CNG mode. A 6-speed manual is expected. Mileage is expected to be around 18-20 km/kg. The price could be around Rs 10 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), about Rs 50,000-70,000 over the petrol manual. Skoda hasn’t announced a launch date, but we expect it by 2027.
